GSN Broadcasts the Blackjack World Series Tournament

The World Series Blackjack Tournament was created and produced by GSN, a successful cable network. The entry into the blackjack tournament is by invitation or by winning a spot through participation in a satellite blackjack tournament. The rounds are edited and broadcast as a weekly show one hour in length. The Blackjack World Series Show is a successful one that is now in its fourth season. The first two seasons were followed with the commentary of Matt Vasgersian and Max Rubin. John Fugelsang and Ben Mezrich hosted the following two seasons of the Blackjack World Series.

Blackjack Tournament Rules in the World Series

The rules of blackjack defined for the Blackjack World Series differ slightly from classic blackjack thus lending an air of strategy and sophistication to the game. These rules have changed slightly from season to season and the game has become ever more sophisticated. Six decks of cards are used and although the same underlying concept of blackjack remains, there are also knockout cards which eliminate players from the blackjack tournament and serve to raise the minimal bet. In addition every player has the option of deploying his power chip once per round. This chip allows the player to replace one card with a card from the shoe. As a result, there is a great deal more strategy in the Blackjack World Series than the simple blackjack game that has been played for generations.
