Roots of Double Exposure Blackjack
Double Exposure is a variation of Blackjack which was devised by a well known Las Vegas casino owner, Bob Stupak. He devised this variation as a way of introducing more spice and excitement to the game of Blackjack making it more interesting and attractive to the players at his casinos. Since its inception Double Exposure Blackjack has become a more popular variation of Blackjack and is readily available at many traditional and online casinos. Although players may falsely believe that by both of the dealers cards being played face up, they have a greater advantage, the opposite is in fact the case.
The Rules of Double Exposure Blackjack
Bob Stupak and casino managers are not stupid and they made plenty of rules to counter the advantages of seeing the dealers cards face up from the beginning of a Double Exposure game. Double Exposure is usually played with 8 decks of cards and the dealer wins on all ties apart from the natural Blackjack which the player can achieve. If a player lands a natural Blackjack he wins even money only. A player is allowed to split his cards if he has two of the same, but he can only do this one time. If cards have been split Blackjack is not paid. In addition cards are shuffled between each round which makes it very difficult to card count and follow the game.
The Popularity of Double Exposure Blackjack
Despite the limitations to the variation of Blackjack; Double Exposure, still does seem to offer more of an advantage to the player. Knowing what you are up against by seeing the cards of the dealer helps you greatly in choosing your next move, whether to hold or draw more cards. Despite the fact that Bob Stupak devised Double Exposure as a way of increasing revenue for his casino, many players can play a wiser and more profitable game knowing what they are playing against and as a result favor playing Double Exposure Blackjack over other variations. But always remember to read the rules and regulations of each Double Exposure Blackjack game that you choose to play in case there are some added rules or limitations.
